Rugby School
The Whole Person, The Whole Point...
Rugby School is a co-educational, full-boarding school where students live and learn together in a vibrant seven-days-a-week community. Our educational philosophy is simple: the whole person is the whole point.
For more than 200 years, boarding has been at the heart of School life. We believe that sharing daily experiences, both inside and outside the classroom creates exceptional opportunities for personal growth, friendship and achievement.
Our aim is to help every student become a well-rounded young adult with the confidence, character and skills to thrive in an ever-changing world. Academic excellence is central to what we do, but it is only one part of a Rugby education. We place equal value on scholarship, leadership, service, creativity, Sport, wellbeing and participation in the life of the School.
This balance is reflected in every aspect of our educational approach. Academic, co-curricular and pastoral provision are closely connected. Together, they create an environment in which students are challenged, supported and encouraged to realise their potential.
At the heart of teaching and learning is The Rugby Way, our distinctive approach to education. Informed by our ethos and by what we know about how students learn best, it combines independent preparation, collaboration and intellectual challenge. Students arrive in lessons ready to engage with ideas, learn from one another and think beyond what they already know. In doing so, they develop not only academic knowledge but also the curiosity, resilience and critical thinking skills that prepare them for life beyond School.
Academic outcomes are consistently strong, with students progressing to leading universities across the UK and around the world. In 2025, 90% of our students achieved 9-6 at GCSE and 60% received A*-A or 7-6 at IB and A level.
Boarding remains central to the Rugby experience. Our Houses are led by resident Housemasters and Housemistresses who create supportive environments where students are known as individuals and encouraged to flourish. Every student is supported by a tutor, while House dining and shared experiences foster a strong sense of belonging, responsibility and community.
We warmly welcome families considering entry at 13+ or 16+ to visit the School. A visit typically includes a tour of the campus, a House visit and the opportunity to meet current students and staff.
Located in the heart of England, Rugby School is just 48 minutes by train from London and approximately 40 minutes from Birmingham Airport.
